CADACC

This year(2012) I’m doing Software Development Project, working with a team called Data Software Engineers', and I’m acting as a System Designer. In this project what we actually do is creating a website for a community project called Catholic Archdiocese of Durban AIDS Care Commission (CADACC).

CADACC is one of the projects under the Archdiocese of Durban, which is one of the dioceses of Roman Catholic Church. There are several projects that are running under CADACC, but we as DSE's we are working with 2 of those projects which are Parish Nurse Project and Sinosizo Project

Parish Nurse Project

1. Parish Nurse Project

Parish Nurse Project (PNP) is a project that is running in 8 parishes. Each parish project is having one nurse and some care givers. Mama Rose Mdladla is the co-ordinator of Parish Nurse Project, who is capable of monitoring and guiding all Parish Nurses. Parish Nurses and care givers are responsible for giving help to community members who are who are infected with HIV/AIDS. And they are also responsible for advising them to take their medication every time. They visit them where they live, counselling them, providing them pain killers and coughing mixtures and sometimes take them to hospitals when it’s needed. Once a month each Parish Nurse provides a report to Mama Mdladla of their statistics, and a brief financial report as they fundraise on their own. And Mama Rose report to Mr Z Mqadi who is the co-ordinator of CADACC.  

2.     Sinosizo Project

Sinosizo Project is a project that manages finances of CADACC. It also provides training to Parish Nurses and care givers. If Mr Mqadi has fundraised, the money that he got is transfered to Sinosizo where it will be stored and used when PNP needs some medication. If there is a new Parish that needs a PNP, first they contact Mr Mqadi and he tell Sinosizo team that provides training.

We as DSE’s we’re going to create an online system for CADACC that will help them to work fast, simple and in an efficient way. As CADACC is using manual system for storing their data, we’re going to create a database that will store their records.
